Our office uses the Limelight photofacial system which uses IPL technology to target pigment, unwanted blood vessels underneath the skin, fine wrinkles, excess hair, and large pores. Best, DR. Karamanoukian Santa Monica
Thank you for your question.Photo facial is a term used to describe what IPL can be used for. To be sure what treatment is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.I hope this helps.
There is no difference between IPL and photofacial. I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist if you are considering this type of treatment. Best, Dr. Emer.
IPL - Intense pulsed light device (also known as BBL - Brand band light device) is the technology used to perform a photofacial/fotofacial. IPL/BBL's are also used for other things like hair removal, treatment of vascular lesions, pigment etc. A photofacial/fotofacial is a treatment performed to help even out the skin tone. I was involved in a study with Dr. Patrick Bitter from California looking at antiaging properties of these devices. For more info go to the Sciton website
IPL is a machine that gives off intense pulsed light, which is used for skin rejuvenation primarily. Photo facial is a marketing term for the procedure because the "flash" of the IPL is often described like the "flash of a camera".
