I have a loop-like piece of skin near the entrance of my vagina. What is this and what can I do?

Fingerlike and looplike skin tags at the vaginal opening are usually the remnants of your hymen. They can be removed in the office under local anesthesia, but pose no risk to your health.

Without photographs be impossible to give you an accurate answer. common conditions such as a skin tag, hemorrhoid were benign skin lesion may be a cause. I would recommend that you see your  gynecologist to be sure.

Hello!If you have not yet had a child, this may be either a vaginal or hymenal septum (strand of tissue) that may be excised by a savvy gynecologist in her or his office.  If you have ahd a child/children, then it may be a prolapsed hymenal tag, or strand of hymen partially torn off & protruding.  A competant gynecologist will be able to differentiate & handle the situation in his or her office under straight local anesthesia.Good Luck!Michael P Goodman MD

You may have a septate hymen which is a normal variation.  Since it is causing problems it can be easily removed by your gynecologist  as a minor office procedure.
