My plastic surgeon is on vacation, otherwise I would be visiting him. I had my augmentation 9 days ago. I stopped my pain meds around Day 6, and now I notive a very tender spot on top of my left breast, size of a nickel. I am worrying and am hoping someone can tell me if this is normal post op. Otherwise I felt like I bounced back great! My next apt isn’t for about 8 days, so any advice/piece of mind I can get in the meantime would be great. I don’t know if I should call my surgeon while he’s in vacation.
Answer: Sore spot Great question! Being only 6 days after surgery, patients can have small areas of bruising, swelling, or sore spots in various areas of the breast. I would bring this to the attention of the office and see your surgeon when he gets back in town, but sounds pretty normal for this stage in recovery.Best of luck and hope this information helps! - Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsai Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Sore spot Thanks for your question. 9 days is still quite early after surgery. I would expect that you would still have some pain and swelling at this point. As long as the situation is not getting worse, I would not be too alarmed. You should be alert to look for signs of infection such as fever, redness or drainage. Even if your surgeon is on vacation, they should have a system in place for patients to have questions like this answered. They likely have someone in the office that can screen these questions and contact your surgeon if they feel it is necessary. Hope that helps.

Answer: Pain after surgery. Great question! It is entirely normal to notice different kinds of pain after surgery, especially with you stop taking pain meds and start moving more. The things that you need to look for signs of immediate complications, like sudden changes in size, fevers, intense pain, exposed implant, overall malaise. Don't be afraid to reach again to the office because even if the surgeon is not, they have lots of experience with post-operative care. Good luck!

Answer: Sore spot on my breast approx a week post-op. Surgeon unavailable, what do I do? You are very early in your healing and it is normal to have swelling, bruising, and different pains. Even though your surgeon is out of the office you should be able to reach out to his staff and they should be able to guide you. They would rather hear from you even if it ends up being nothing to make sure. Don't be afraid to reach out. They are there to help you at any time.Best of luck!

Answer: Sore spot on my breast approx a week post-op. Surgeon unavailable, what do I do? Sore spots are quite normal, especially being only a week post op. This could just be from general swelling and bruising from surgery. If you are very concerned, there should be someone at your surgeons office for you to see, but the soreness should resolve with time.
