I don’t want a super huge difference on my front view but I do want my mentolbial fold to be less deep and chin less receded. Is 3mm out and down too small of a measurement to precisely execute? Thank you
Answer: Horizontal and Vertical Chin Lengthnening A position of a sliding genioplasty is controlled by the dimensions of the plate used to secure it in its new position. As a result a precise 3mm movement forward and then vertically down is set by how the chin plate is shaped before it is applied to the bone segments.

Answer: chin implant candidate The chin, the mandible, and the implants are all 3-dimensional structures, and the augmentation for the chin occurs in all 3 dimensions. A thorough in-person examination is required to determine the size, shape and the thickness of the implant to be placed.

Answer: Genioplasty measurements An osseous sliding genioplasty allows one to move the chin point in 3 dimensions. It allows more versatility in movement and position than with a chin implant procedure. Because of that versatility, the surgery can range from very conservative (a few mm movement) to more aggressive (10mm of movement). So you desire for a conservative change is completely in line with the goals of this procedure. Your upper and lower jaw position (occlusion) is also important when evaluating the best procedure for you. Seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or maxillofacial surgeon experienced with jaw surgery. Good luck!

Answer: Move the chin only 3mm forward and 3mm downward? Or are those measurements too small/precise? Hi, the short answer is probably. My gut feeling is that you would be "talked" into spending thousands of dollars on a custom chin implant which at the end of the day still wouldn't be that precise and even if it was, would result in a very modest correction of your weak chin. In my experience, the EAC silastic chin implant offers the most natural looking augmentation to the chin. I typically use a size small for women and a size medium for men. I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. The mental groove is typically 5 mm's deep when the chin has the proper degree of forward projection as shown in the accompanying video. Often patients that have had a weak (receded chin for a long time) fear this deep of a mental groove won't be aesthetically pleasing but that simply isn't the case. Hope this helps.
