I had rhinoplasty 3 days ago. Had a good nose already, and wanted only very minor shaping done - a small bony bit removed from the right side of my bridge, and asked for advice on my tip - which i felt wasn't supported when i smiled. Surgeon suggested a cartilage implant in the tip (taken from my ear). I said I was concerned as I didn't want an upturned nose. He said that, at most, it would raise the tip 1mm. Now, day 3 and I have a pig nose, and totally distressed. Can I get it removed??

Occasionally the depressor needs to be released to correct some abnormalities about the tip, but it is by no means done routinely, as you have noted a well done tip and tip grafting when appropriate are more important.
My personal recommendation is to always trim the hairs with a small sharp scissors. I have seen too many bad infections in the nose caused by other methods. If you are going to wax the hairs, allow a minimum of six weeks.
We are often asked if fluid draining form the nose after Rhinoplasty is 'brain fluid'. It is not. The nose discharges copious amounts of clear mucous after surgery and this is often confused with CSF. The causes are multiple: normal draining of the tear ducts, packing placement and removal,...
