How do I get rid of lumps in my hands from Sculptra? (Photos)

Question

I had Sculptra injected in my hands in February. I have a lump on the top of each hand, which of course, are visible. My provider started injecting Kenelog steroid to break them down. I noticed my skin lighter in the injection site due to the Kenelog and stopped that treatment. Then I had one saline injection and decide to leave the lumps alone hoping with additional massaging and time they would improve. No improvement yet.

Sculptra induced nodules can be treated with steroid injections such as Kenalog. Some people try saline injections with reported improvements too.  Radio frequency treatment for the focal region can also be attempted to breakdown the nodule.

Radiofrequency, Steroids, and 5-FU can be tried to improve lumps after Sculptra, however, they are hit and miss. In your situation, I believe the best option is to directly excise those lumps. Sculptra is not my first line choice for hand rejuvenation. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician provider. Best wishes.

I prefer hyaluronic acid based fillers like Restylane Lyft over Sculptra when treating the hands. These nodules are difficult to remove. Saline injections into the nodule can help break it up. Alternatively, they may need to be excised.

Formation of granulomas and cysts, the ones that you see as a lump on your hands are not that uncommon when the solution used to dissolve Sculptra is deficient. I would not treat them with Kenalog at this point in time and simply ask your doctor to puncture those little cyst with a small needle. This usually will resolve the issue.
