Does using nasal Ocean Spray makes the swelling worse in my post-op Rhinoplasty?

Wondering if using nasal Ocean Spray makes the swelling worse in my post-op rhinoplasty nose? It says it contains "sodium chloride"with is much like salt isn't it? Is there a alternative product to keep nasal passages moist (that isn't salty)?

You are correct that salt intake can make swelling worse.  Ocean spray in the nose after a rhinoplasty has a few beneficial outcomes:1)  Keep the nose moist to prevent dry crusting2)  Helps clean the nose3)  Aids in opening the airwayDry blood in the nose can obstruct the nasal passageway and be painful to remove.  The ocean spray used is a small volume and only a small percentage of that volume is absorbed by the nose.  It should not have an effect on the swelling in the nose.I hope this helps.

Using ocean spray will not cause the nose to swell either internally or externally.  It will help dissolve some of the clotted blood an mucus on your internal suture lines.

Ocean Spray (and other similar saline products) should not cause nose swelling. In any case, follow your surgeons instructions.

The swelling, inside and outside of your nose, will not be affected by use of the saline mist Ocean Spray.  Overall, your healing will most likely be facilitated by gentle, intermittent spraying/sniffing of this fine saline mist (according to YOUR surgeon's post-op instructions).  It clears away bits of coagulated blood and crusting that tend to build up around the stitches inside the nose, usually allowing for easier breathing. Nasal spray in this case is just saline which is pretty benign.  It should not impact swelling at all, but may help clear your passages to breathe better.
