I'm so unhappy. My bridge is not narrow and straight, it seems to bend outwards like 2 brackets. It's rock hard like bone so I don't think it's swelling. I didn't have this before.
Answer: Post-op Advised Hello, Based on your pictures, it seems that your doctor did not do osteotomy. This means that he did not rearrange your nasal bones to fit the new nose after the removal of your dorsal hump. I would get a post op consultation with your original board certified plastic surgeon to find out exactly what he/she did in surgery and to find a solution to your dissatisfaction. Answer: Nasal Swelling I am sorry to hear about your disappointment. Thanks for the photos. They really help with your description of the problem. So the good news is that you are only 2 months out from surgery. You still may be swollen. But instead of advising you to continue to hold on, I have a suggestion for you.Ask your surgeon if he did an osteotomy (breaking of the bones) of your nasal bones. If you had a nasal hump removed and an osteotomy wasn't done, your nose could look like this. This condition is called an "open roof deformity." The point of breaking the bones after removing the hump is to narrow the nose where the hump was removed. If an osteotomy wasn't done, it may have to be done to correct the problem you are having. So my advice is to have a discussion with your surgeon. If he did an osteotomy, you may need to wait a few months to let the swelling go down. If he didn't do an osteotomy, you may still have to wait a few months to have it done. Remember there is at least a 10% revision rate in rhinoplasty, because sometimes the nose doesn't quite heal the way we expect it to.Sorry about the disappointment. Have a frank discussion with your surgeon, so he can help guide you through this.Good Luck!

Answer: Wide Nasal Bridge 2 Months After Surgery- Probably Not Just Swelling While swelling can persist for 6 months after a rhinoplasty, it doesn't look like what you're concerned about is due to swelling. It's likely that the cast that was placed on your nose after the surgery did not hold the bones in the position that your surgeon had hoped it would. You are at a point now where a follow-up visit with your surgeon would be the right next step. A minor revision surgery should be able to fix your problem. Good luck.

Answer: I am 2 months post op. My bridge is the same width if not wider than my tip. What could be causing this? Schedule a meeting with your surgeon to address your concerns. It appears he did not do osteotomy (breaking of the bones). Breaking the bones after removing the hump is to narrow the nose where the hump was removed. If an osteotomy wasn't done, it may have to be done to correct the problem you are having. The only way for online consultants to determine this is by reviewing your operative report.

Answer: Go see your doctor Surgical swelling takes about six months to go away. But you'd best go see your doctor, discuss your concerns and find out what was done at surgery. If the nasal bones are wide, they are usually cut during the procedure (osteotomies), the bones pinched into their desired location and held there with a cast or splint for a week. It's possible an osteotomy was not done, the bones were not pinched enough, or the cast came off too soon and the bones spread......only your surgeon will know the answers.
