I'm considering having a tummy tuck and I would really like to schedule my procedure during my daughters' school holidays so that I have enough time to rest. The problem is that I'm meant to perform on stage about 5 months after the surgery and there is a lot of dancing involved (tap, ballet, jazz, etc). How soon after the TT can I be involved in rehearsals for the show?
Answer: When can I dance after Tummy Tuck? It is always wise to determine what activities are allowed at what time following surgery. Discuss this with your surgeon. There are different types of dance involving different stresses on the abdominal musculature. In general, the repairs to the muscle wall and also to the skin are fully healed with regards to strength at six weeks. In other words, although it may not look the best this short period of time after surgery, and you still may have discomfort, in most cases things are as strong as they will get and it would be very unlikely to cause any damage through activity. Of course individuals do very and one should discuss this with one's surgeon.

Answer: Dancing after tummy tuck Hi there. If all goes well, you should be ready to start rehearsals after about 6 weeks or so. By that stage, most patients are able to begin strenuous exercise. Of course, there may be some variation depending on your unique situation and also if there is a complication. Good luck!

Answer: Tummy T I appreciate your question.I would recommend that you contact your plastic surgeon with this question. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you will be healing following surgery. For my patients, I recommend no heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 6-8 weeks. I tell them to start slow and ease back into activities gradually listening to their bodies. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Answer: When can I dance after Tummy Tuck? Congratulations on your decision to undergo the tummy tuck procedure. I find that many patients ( and their plastic surgeons) underestimate the actual recovery time associated with extensive operations such as tummy tuck surgery. The operation is associated with a very significant physical, and often "emotional", recovery period.I ask my tummy tuck patients to refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent any complications and ensure proper healing. Even at 2 months post op patients will report that they have not reached full strength/stamina. It may be 4-6 months before patients reach full strength. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific activities. My best suggestion: start slow, gradually ease back into activities, and listen to your body as you do so. Best wishes.
