People travel abroad in order to save money on cosmetic procedures. Unfortunately, if the patient has problems, few plastic surgeons are willing to take on the problems associated with these complications. If you truely have issues, then be up front with the surgeons who you talk with, about what has been done. It may end up being very expensive to correct the problems that result from a discount procedure.
You are wise to think about post-operative follow-up, before out of the country surgery. It is often difficult to arrange, and may require you to return to the operating surgeon. Please consider a consult with a surgeon in your area, and discuss follow-up with the operating surgeon.
Typically surgeons in the country on not eager see patients who have surgery performed elsewhere because of poor standardization of surgical procedures in other countries. We may have difficulty understanding exactly what was done which can impact our ability to take care of you after you had surgery. Unfortunately if you elect to have surgery in a different country you will need to see the surgeon who performed the surgery for followup.
It is absolutely unfair to you, your surgeon and the plastic surgeon you want to follow up with once you return to the US. You should decide where you want the proper post op care and that should determine where to have the surgery. Anything short of that will lead to poor care
Thank you for your question. Most U.S. plastic surgeons will strongly encourage you not to travel out of the country to have your procedure. There are many good plastic surgeons across the borders, but in the unfortunate event that you have a complication, finding care here is very difficult. This can be life threatening, and I've taken care of a number of patients myself who have found themselves in this dangerous situation. You are much better off finding a trusted and qualified plastic surgeon nearer to you. Best wishes on your procedure.
We have all seen any number of extreme problems and complications after out of town surgery. If you have those problems you will need to see the original surgeon or spend far more than you saved to have them corrected.
Thanks for your question, sorry that your postop course has been challenging. Seromas can be frustrating. It sounds like your surgeon is doing everything that can be done to drain the fluid. There are a few other options to consider. Continue compressive clothing or wearing your binder. Li...
Having a laparoscopic hysterectomy and tummy tuck under the same anesthesia is possible, and many women who are considering both procedures like the idea of having only a single recovery. In a combined surgical case, typically the gynecologist would perform the hysterectomy first, and the plastic...
I think it is likely that photos you may have seen are instances where the native skin surrounding the belly button was darker. In a tummy tuck, the belly button is kept in its place, and the skin from above is pulled down and to surround the belly button in its new position. Sometimes the...
