Right breast sore, mostly in the morning when I wake up. What is this? I'm 3 years post op.

Most of the time capsular contracture is painless but occasionally patients will complain of discomfort as this phenomenon emerges. It's possible your breast pain is totally unrelated to the breast implants. Nevertheless, the best place to start is at the plastic surgeon's office.

Thank you for your question. I would recommend you see your surgeon to have an in-person examination performed.  There may be several different reasons to have pain in one's breast, but without the full details of a history and physical exam, it is difficult to make any recommendations.  

You may be experiencing pain in the breast due to capsular contraction.  Is the right breast getting firmer?  Do you see any rippling?It is also possible that your pain is unrelated to the breast implant.You should see your plastic surgeon to help figure out what is going on.

Most likely cause of the symptoms you describe is a capsule contracture although there could be some others. I suggest you see your surgeon asap to clarify your condition. Good luck.

The cause is uncertain.  It may be due to the position you are sleeping and the pulling on the scar capsule around the implant.  If the implant is felling firmer or harder, you may be developing capsular contraction.  You should follow-up with your surgeon to be evaluated and to discuss your concerns.

This pain is usually related to fibrocystic breast disease from estrogen dominance, chemical toxicity, or iodine deficiency.  There are some other less common causes of breast pain in this area as well.  A breast US can be helpful is determining causation.  If your implant capsule is tighter, it could be that the silicone implant is leaking.
