What can I do about an atrophic surgical lip scar? (Photo)

Question

I had a surgery around 2 months ago to do a z plasty as a scar revision. I had previously removed a mucocele from my lip which caused one side of my lip to be much lower. The z plasty fixed that issue but I have been still bothered by this scar that it left. Can I use fillers, fascia, silicone patches to deal with this if it stays? Besides the initial month of healing I haven't seen improvement. How long should I wait for scar improvement and is there anything I can do in the mean time?

There are a couple of Treatments that will help your scar. Subcision with PRP, microneedling with PRP and Fractionated laser should be helpful. Treatment sooner rather than later will yield better results.

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2.
