If there is any skin laxity before having liposuction of the upper abdomen, liposuction will increase that laxity and the belly button skin will become more compressed horizontally. This means it can go from round to flat and sometimes even a downward curved line. This is always a risk of having liposuction as liposuction makes skin more loose, not more tight. That’s the trade off for achieving a more sculpted appearance otherwise. Even adding energy when doing the procedure in this particular area doesn’t counteract this effect. Changing the shape of the belly button by removing some excess skin there will leave a scar around the belly button, generally not worth it, but you can discuss that with your plastic surgeon.
