Is it ok to do contact sport 1 year post op otoplasty?

so its been a year since I had my op and im wondering if its ok not now continue with mma, also I get these sharp pains in my ears sometimes it almost feels like something is trapped, is this normal? thanks

Thanks for the question. After 6 weeks your surgery area is totally healed and yes you can do contact sports and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.

Yes, generally speaking, you should be cleared
to return to contact sports and to resume your normal lifestyle one year after
your otoplasty surgery. At this point, your recovery process should be nearly complete.
Still, it is essential that you get the official ok from the surgeon who
conducted your otoplasty. He or she knows your condition best and can advise
you accordingly.

At one year post-op it should be okay to proceed with contact sports, but you will want to discuss this with your surgeon.  As with any contact sport, especially wrestling and MMA, there is a risk of auricular hematoma and cauliflower ear formation.  Involvement in such activities can ruin the cosmetic/reconstructive surgery that you went through (and paid for).

It depends on the method with which you were operated on.  If it was with the stitch method, sport, also contact sport, is already possible a few days after the operation. However, if it was an operation with the traditional method, then you should ask your surgeon. After an otoplasty, regardless of the method used to perform it, wrestling is basically not recommended because the so-called cauliflower ears can occur in this kind of sport.
