Thanks for the question. After a Rhinoplasty surgery you can take a shower after 5-7 days. I wish you all the best.
After the cast gets removed go ahead and take your shower, wash your hair, do not be afraid to let the water run on your nose. Usually patients cannot wait to finally wash without being afraid to wet the cast. Please be careful and gently clean your face and nose area. After you done pat dry your nose without applying any pressure. You have to remember that it has been only a week since the procedure was done and the healing process will take several weeks. If you have any concerns contact your surgeon and make sure to follow the care instruction given by your office.
I allow my patients to shower after the outer and inner splints are removed. I can not think of any other reason why you could not. But, always ask your surgeon first.
My recommendations allow the patient to shower without getting their hair wet starting 1 day postop and can start to wash their hair in the shower at 5 days. Mario J. Imola, MD, DDS, FRCSC.
It seems like you are referring to the splint used on your nasal dorsum following a rhioplasty. If this is the case then you are safe taking a shower once it is removed.
What type of cast and for what procedure? More information is needed to respond to this question. Good luck.
It is reasonable to take a shower after removal of the nasal splint following rhinoplasty. However, do not scrub directly on your nose. If your nose was "broken" with osteotomies, it is important not to place too much pressure on the nose in the first 3 1/2 - 4 weeks. Best of Luck!
It's possible but if there is no visible deformity then don't worry about it. If there is some type of depression or deformity then talk to your surgeon about options.
It is most important to ensure that you don't have any underlying or ongoing medical issues that are the cause of the perforation. Once anything more serious has been ruled out, there are several options to fix a septal perforation. The most straight-forward is to place a small silicone "button"...
The photo shows that you have a slight hanging columella. You do not need to have open rhinoplasty to treat a hanging columella. This is a relatively simple operation that can be done under local anesthesia in the office.
