Hairline lowering surgery, Minoxidil (as requested) or natural remedy?

Newly transplanted grafts do not need any medication for growth. There are some thoughts that treatments such as PRP during or immediately after surgery can help minimize shocking and improve graft survival and expedite early growth of new transplants. PRP, at least the way I prepare it without costly additives is the only natural treatment option that may be effective. Medications such as Minoxidil can prevent loss of native hair that might be lost otherwise naturally or from surgical trauma, essentially shocking. I tell my patients to consider all treatment options as tools in the toolbox and frequently you need multiple different types of tools to finish a project nicely!

If you don't want to follow the recommendations of your surgeon it would be recommended to contact him or her and discuss the situation. The purpose of the minoxidil is to help reduce the changes of you have massive hair loss after your surgery. Some women develop marked shedding after hairline lowering surgery and a very small minority may even develop loss to the point of needing a wig for a few months. Minoxidil may help reduce these risks a bit but does not reduce the risk to zero. You may wish to discuss minoxidil with your surgeon. There are no well studied natural remedies

If you are a female, the need for minoxidil for a hairline lowering procedure is the choice of the doctor, something rarely used by us. If you are a male, then a hairline lowering surgery is not indicated and only hair transplants should be used for hairline lowering work
