Does fat freezing and CoolSculpting affect kidney function?

Question

Hi i had problems with my kidneys when I was young. 7 years old. I had nephritis. I'm now 30 years old. Take enalapril twice a day 10mg. Im fit and healthy. But was just wondering what your thoughts are on fat freezing/coolsculpting stomach and love handles and does it affect the kidneys. I've read articles saying its the liver which gets rid of the cells. Can you tell me if it's safe for me to get this done please. Thank you.

Thanks for your question and I appreciate your concern. CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that should not cause any problems with your kidney condition. Clinical trials were performed that analyzed blood work before and after Coolsculpting treatment that did not show any worsening kidney function. However, make sure you are working with a board-certified dermatologist who is well-versed on your medical history to ensure your procedure is as safe as it is successful.

Having a minimally invasive procedure such as CoolSculpting to get rid of excess fat around your hips, or “love handles,” should not affect the function of your kidneys whatsoever. The fact that you nephritis as a child should is not relative to whether or not you are a potential candidate for CoolSculpting. Of course, it’s always recommended that you receive a full medical assessment during your consultation, which is the only real way to find out if CoolSculpting could work for you.

A CoolSculpting treatment on the abdomen and love handles (or anywhere else on the body) should not affect kidney function, so I would see no problem treating you even though you had nephritis as a child.
