Hi I had breast lift and implant under muscle 6 weeks ago, I have started light cardio and training legs when can I carry on as before surgery ie lifting weights hit intensity training, body pump??
Answer: 6 weeks post breast lift and implant under muscle. When can I lift weights, do high intensity training and body pump? Recovering after breast augmentation varies from patient to patient and depends on several factors. Breast augmentation performed above the muscle causes less discomfort because there is no stretching of the muscle from the implant. Recovery usually lasts several days and most of my patients return to work within a week. Breast augmentation performed below the muscle is associated with more swelling and discomfort. Recovery may take 1-2 weeks before you feel ready to return to work. You should avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for up to 6 weeks to maximize your aesthetic result. In 6 weeks, given normal healing, patients are cleared to ease back into their normal activities. It is important to follow your Plastic Surgeon’s detailed advice following your surgery.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear michelleDd26, The majority of breast augmentation and lift patients need one week of downtime. Depending on the work environment (heavy lifting, etc) more time off may be necessary. Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after surgery to avoid blood clots in the legs. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol, which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Return to high intensity exercise Post operative regimen will vary from surgeon to surgeon and patient to patient. In my practice, patients will be allowed to return to full activity by six weeks post op (assuming they are well healed). However, as always, the best advice is to consult with your operating surgeon. He or she has developed protocols based upon experience and will have clear reasons for the choices regarding activity etc.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
