What type of retainers should I use after Invisalign? I fixed crossbite

Hello there,Generally speaking, they all are pretty similar.  Some will tell you that Vivera retainers are best, some will tell you that others are best.  I actually provide about 3-4 different options for my patients and the results are great across the board.  Just make sure that you consider your options and pick one that suits you and has some type of replacement offer (in case you loose one or both). Good luck and follow me on Real Self, if you have additional questions.

I'd go with the Invisalign retainer, most likely, as they are much more comfortable and less noticeable than a Hawley.  Wear the Invis for 3-4 months and then sign on for Vivera, which should get you another year.  Many crossbites become self retentive eventually, so follow your orthodontist's advice.

Our office has been doing Invisalign for 16 years and traditional wire and bracket Orthodontics prior to that.  We have found the Vivera retainer system to be the best, most effective and comfortable system.  The initial order will provide you with 4 sets of reatainers. In the future if you need to, you can renew the subscription.   After the first three months of wearing a set of retainers all the time, you can wear them just at night.  We consider retainers an insurance that your teeth stay straight indefinitely and although you can reduce how much you wear them over time, if there is any significant pressure when you put them in, it means you need to continue wearing them.  In general all our patients find wearing the Vivera reatainers at night totally comfortable.
