I am a type 1 diabetic with large abdominal fat that I just can't get rid of. Can I get Liposuction to reduce it?

The answer is of course, YES, you CAN have liposuction for abdominal fat.  The question however is what type of result can you expect?  After all, it's not liposuction you want, it's a trim, beautiful abdomen.  To answer the question: How do you get from where you are to an abdomen you are happy with, personal consultation is recommended.

Diabetes itself is not a contraindication to liposuction. Your questions is a good one and it is important to know that liposuction is a contouring procedure and not a weight loss surgery.  If your fat is inside your abdomen, the only thing you can do is continue with good eating habits and exercise.  If you have sufficient fat outside of your abdomen, then liposuction maybe of value for you.  Since I don't have photos to look at, I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon who can guide you through the options that will work best for you.

JFTF2014-WIthout the benefit of an exam or photos it is hard to tell if liposuction alone would be sufficient to remove that stubborn fat in your abdomen. It sounds like from a diet and exercise standpoint you are dong everything you can do.  I would find a board certified plastic surgeon in your area and have them evaluate you to see if you are a candidate. Generally speaking, the “ideal” liposuction  surgery candidate is a patient who presents with diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue associated with good quality overlying skin elasticity. Absolutely!  Obviously, make sure your sugars are in tight control through your medical doctor in preparation for surgery.  Please make sure you work with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Watch your sugars carefully after surgery.  Liposuction combined with exercise may make a significant difference in your overall medical condition.  Good luck. 

If the fat you mention is intrabdominal, that is behind the muscles, it cannot be treated with liposuction. That procedure only works for superficial fat, the fat you can grab. If you have a BMI over the high 20's you would probably not be a candidate for liposuction, as it is definitely NOT designed for weight loss. I think you need to seek a consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon.
