Liposuction can be done at almost any age with a few exceptions but 18 is not too young and the skin should smooth out very nicely. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD
No, your age will not prevent you from having surgery.Liposuction results are highly surgeon dependent. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of liposuction and liposuction revision procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
At 18, you are not too young for liposuction. It is always best to be close to your ideal weight or within 5-10 pounds of your ideal weight. If you have tried exercise and staying away from fatty, high carb diets, then liposuction could help you get rid of unwanted fat in areas where you cannot "exercise" it away. Good luck.
Having a major surgery for cosmetic reasons is not something that requires a specific age to understand. Certainly there are young people with a great understanding of the process, the recovery, the expectations and the irreversible nature of the procedure and older people who do not seem to grasp these things. But to operate and change an 18 year old forever requires a fair amount of contact between the physician and patient to ensure that the operation is something you will be happy with both in the short term and the rest of your life. This is an important responsibility on the surgeon and requires that you, as the patient, seek out a qualified and caring surgeon. I assure you that someone, somewhere will operate on you whether you are ready or not if you ask enough surgeons. Find one who takes time to understand your rationale, your desires and your expectations.Best,Dr. Pyle
Thank you for the question. This is a mature age to have the procedure, it will actually give you better results because of your skin being so young.Dr. Campos
Henson83-You are not too young for liposuction. I would try make sure you have exhausted your nonsurgical options to get rid of the fat such as diet and exercise. Find a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Good luck.
Hello and thank you for your question.18 years of age isnot necessarily too young to have liposuction performed, but before insistingon surgery I would certainly consider methods, such as exercising and eatinghealthy. I recommend that you see a board certified plastic surgeonin consultation to get more specific answers to your questions which can bestbe addressed after a thorough history and examination is performed.Best of luck to you!
No, your age is not a contraindication to liposuction surgery. Generally speaking, the “ideal” liposuction surgery candidate is a patient who presents with diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue associated with good quality overlying skin elasticity. In person consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons will provide you with more specific advice/information. Best wishes.
No you are not too young but just remember liposuction is not a replacement for good diet and exercise habitsDr Corbin
Your liposuction may be better at your higher weight.Once down to 195, you will look even better. But it may make little difference - liposuction removes fat cells. Once they are removed, the treated should not gain weight as before.
Daviovalle24, let me first say that caring for massive weight loss patients has been a passion of mine since about 1999, when not much was know about this patient population. I have a lot of experience.Congratulations on your choice to address your health issues, and make positive life...
Bruising Concerns after LiposuctionWhat you have is expected during the recovery process after liposuction. Bruising and swelling are normal in the suctioned areas and usually increase slightly after the removal of any tape or foam. The bruising will decrease over 3-4 weeks, but may last as long...
