Im 18, 5'4 and 140 pounds. i have a lot of fat on my inner thighs and on my arms that I desperately want removed.
Answer: 18 is not too young for liposuction. Liposuction can be done at almost any age with a few exceptions but 18 is not too young and the skin should smooth out very nicely. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD

Answer: Am I too young for lipo? No, your age will not prevent you from having surgery.Liposuction results are highly surgeon dependent. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of liposuction and liposuction revision procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Liposuction for 18 year old At 18, you are not too young for liposuction. It is always best to be close to your ideal weight or within 5-10 pounds of your ideal weight. If you have tried exercise and staying away from fatty, high carb diets, then liposuction could help you get rid of unwanted fat in areas where you cannot "exercise" it away. Good luck.

Answer: Am I too young for lipo? No, your age is not a contraindication to liposuction surgery. Generally speaking, the “ideal” liposuction surgery candidate is a patient who presents with diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue associated with good quality overlying skin elasticity. In person consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons will provide you with more specific advice/information. Best wishes.

Answer: Age Not the Only Factor Having a major surgery for cosmetic reasons is not something that requires a specific age to understand. Certainly there are young people with a great understanding of the process, the recovery, the expectations and the irreversible nature of the procedure and older people who do not seem to grasp these things. But to operate and change an 18 year old forever requires a fair amount of contact between the physician and patient to ensure that the operation is something you will be happy with both in the short term and the rest of your life. This is an important responsibility on the surgeon and requires that you, as the patient, seek out a qualified and caring surgeon. I assure you that someone, somewhere will operate on you whether you are ready or not if you ask enough surgeons. Find one who takes time to understand your rationale, your desires and your expectations.Best,Dr. Pyle
