Is this Parry Romberg syndrome and what type of specialist do I need to see to confirm this?

Over the last 5 years my left side of my face has began to sink and I've noticed this large line across my cheek. I used to randomly get these shocking like sensations on my left cheek, felt like paralysis before the asymmetry became worse. I'm very self conscious about it and want to fix.

I have treated this for years, but I suggest you get a CT Scan and start fillers, bellafill, renuva, and/or sculptra. there is a lot that can be done. if this worsens implants and/or maxillofacial surgery can be performed. Best, Dr. Emer.

Parry Romberg soft tissue atrophic changes almost always follows the path of a sensory branch of the trigeminal nerve. This is why it is also called 'linear scleroderma'. This is not exactly how your left face appears. But that does not mean it is not as atypical changes also can occur. There is no specific diagnostic for Parry Romberg, the diagnosis is made by clinical presentation. That being said the correct treatment is autologous fat injections which can best augment the soft tissue atrophy and can, theoretically, help prevent its further progression.

Hi there,
It is perfectly normal to experience more volume loss on one side vs. the other as we are never even.
Sometimes  just sleeping on one side or the other can be fully noticed.
Have a consultation with a Board Certified  Physician to discuss your volume loss and your different options ie. fillers, fat.
