Did I inflict damage to my skin?

Question

I had IPL treatment on cleavage Oct 16,2015, and started to use isotretinoins Nov 11,2015. I only had 240 mg. Anyway, could isotretinoins I had 26 days later interfere with post IPL recovery and cause skin damage? My skin has since been very dry and looked bad. I wonder whether it's because I hasted with isotretinoins. Please, help

Accutane is a go-to medication for patients with recalcitrant cystic acne. It can reduce pore size and also reduce sebum production in your skin, making it less oily; and in turn, dryer. Accutane can be used to control acne, but patients receiving the medication should be carefully monitored. In terms of skincare, always wear an appropriate sunscreen and reduce direct sun exposure. In my patients, I recommend a good ceramide moisturizer such as Elevase whenever they are on Accutane. This will keep the skin hydrated and reduce the oiliness of the skin that is associated with oil-based moisturizers.

The isotretinoin you took nearly 4 weeks later did not interfere with your IPL treatment results.  The issue with istotretinoin and surgery came about years ago after it was realized that patients had poor wound healing when having dermabrasion while on isotretinoin.  From there, recommendations were made to exercise caution when treating patients on this medicine.Depending on operator experience and comfort, many laser and light treatments can be performed safely while being on isotretinoin.  It is always recommended to disclose medication history with the physician and then a discussion can be had about options.  Your isotretinoin intake was well after your treatment and did not affect your healing.  Good luck
