What can I use to help accelerate flaking of brown spots after IPL?

Question

I had 2 very large sunspots zapped on Wednesday night and they turned deep brown. Its slightly broken up and skin looks nice underneath. It's looks like it's supposed to but I need it to start flaking bc it's impossible to cover. What can I use? Neosporin perhaps?

Use an exfoliating cleanser and consider hydrafacial.  I find that Fraxel long term gives more improvement for brown spots and wrinkles. Best, Dr. Emer.

The lesions should fall off by 1 week or so.  I wouldn't recommend trying to pick them off as you could cause injury and prolong healing.  Good luck.Best,Payman Kosari, MD, FAAD

I am happy to hear your treatment was successful after only 1 session!  It is normal for the lesion to darken and crust and for it to take 7-21 days to be shed by the skin.  The lesion is usually healed in 21-30 days and will continue to fade over the next 6-8 weeks.  You should avoid aggressive scrubbing, use of exfoliants, picking or pulling at the darkened lesions or you may risk scarring.
