Is it safe to use amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets while doing a facial laser resurfacing?

My third session of facial laser resurfacing will be in the next two days yet I'm still using an antibiotic (called "Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium Tablets") !! Can I take it while doing my next laser session or is it a photosensitive drug?? Thank you in advance

Augmentin use is not a contraindication for laser. However, it is usually a treatment for an oral or sinus infection. If you have any head and neck infection, it is always best to postpone a facial laser resurfacing until your infection is treated.

Dear patient, As far as I know there is no contra-indication in taking this antibiotic before laser resurfacing. having said that I strongly urge you to call your surgeon and discuss. You may need to postpone the laser because of the existing infection in your body. Skin doesn't heal well when there is inflammation in other body parts. I hope this was helpful Yours Dr David R.

I would agree that though there is no contra indication to laser resurfacing while on this medication the fact that you have an infection that requires taking this antibiotic in the first place may be of more concern.  I believe it is always best to go into any procedure feeling well with reserves in the body for the demands of healing.
