Nose rasping procedure - is this bone cartilage? (Photo)

Nasal bones comprise the upper third of your nasal dorsum (bridge) and cartilage from the septum and upper lateral cartilages comprise the middle third. When the hump is small, it can be removed without fracturing the nasal bones. Consultation with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon would be the best way to evaluate your individual case.

Hey! so obviously it is hard to see without a photo, but definitely little bumps can be situated, either cartilage or bone with a Rasp Procedure. There are ways to improve without a full blown rhinoplasty by just doing minor changes such as a Rasp. I actually wrote an article on minor revisions for rhinoplasty because not everything has to have the nose opened to to improve. These are done under local anesthesia without breaking the nose, making it much more easy and bearable. I hope this helps!

Generally speaking, when we remove a bump from somebody's nose, their nasal appearance will get wider on the operating room table. In that regard, removing a bump with rasping or other methods typically requires osteotomies. In our experience, that is best performed with general anesthetic. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph
