Nose rasping procedure - is this bone cartilage? (Photo)

Question

I'm 24 year old, never had any procedure, my only problem is a slight hump on the top of my nose, it is small but I hate it. Is there any way it can be only rasped under local anesthesia without breaking my nose and having a big surgery? And as a plastic surgeon do you consider my nose to be nice looking or does it need work done ? And is this bone or cartilage ? I need your advice please

Nasal bones comprise the upper third of your nasal dorsum (bridge) and cartilage from the septum and upper lateral cartilages comprise the middle third. When the hump is small, it can be removed without fracturing the nasal bones. Consultation with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon would be the best way to evaluate your individual case.

Hey! so obviously it is hard to see without a photo, but definitely little bumps can be situated, either cartilage or bone with a Rasp Procedure. There are ways to improve without a full blown rhinoplasty by just doing minor changes such as a Rasp. I actually wrote an article on minor revisions for rhinoplasty because not everything has to have the nose opened to to improve. These are done under local anesthesia without breaking the nose, making it much more easy and bearable. I hope this helps!

Generally speaking, when we remove a bump from somebody's nose, their nasal appearance will get wider on the operating room table. In that regard, removing a bump with rasping or other methods typically requires osteotomies. In our experience, that is best performed with general anesthetic. I hope this helps! Unfortunately the photos are not on your question.  In general a lot of humps that looks like they could just be filed actually require more aggressive hump removal and breaking the bones. In  such cases just filing the bridge gives an unsatisfactory result. Also dorsal basal humps  are mostly cartilage, and cartilage doesn’t file very well
