FUE shedding. Grafts or just scabs with hair? Day 6-7 post op (Photo)

Question

Yesterday was day 6 of my fue and I lightly ran through the recipient area with my hand and noticed scabs or grafts there has been no bleeding or pain, washing since day 3 and just finished medication. My concern is it grafts or scabs? Also have been waking up with scabs in my bed.... I'll add day one post surgery photos and current photos to compare

It is normal to lose transplanted hairs weeks after surgery.  It may take 6 to 12 months to see new hairs grow out.  You may be seeing tiny scabs attached to the hairs.

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is both scubs and hair strings but not grafts ..İt is  not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss&hellip;New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .

The concern after surgery is always the loss of grafts.  The photos look to be only the scab allong with broken hairs.  This is a perfectly normal part of the post operative period.  It appears that you have been diligent in your post operative care.
The loss of grafts really only occur soon after surgery (1-2days).  When this occurs, there is also usually associated bleeding.  This does not sound like your situation.
Just continue as you have been doing.  Also, expect more shedding of hair along with the scabbing that remains.

These hairs and grafts will sooner or later shed. They are never a problem for new hairs that start to grow. Usually, there is a lag time between the time the hairs shed (2-8 weeks) and the time the new hair grows (3-8 months). IF for any reason, there is an overlap between the two, pay no attention to it for when the new hair grows, the old hairs from the grafts that may persist beyond 8 weeks, will eventually shed
