5 yrs post op, doctor added cartilage to my nose tip. My nose still have edema & swollen when I touch. Is this normal? (photos)

I had got rhinoplasty operation by my nose 5 years ago.Doctor said that he made added caritlage to my nose tip which is between my eyes by my own cartilage which he cut out by my own nose.

Yes pressure can have an effect but in your case it will be reversible in my opinion. Your skin is good quality as you are young and your nose has thick skin in any case. You cannot alter the shape of the supporting cartilages of the nose with massage, so no harm done.

I encourage you to check with your plastic surgeon to make sure that you understood his or her post-operative instructions. Typically, I don't require that any of my rhinoplasty patients wear the splint longer than one week. Occasionally, I will have them wear steri-tapes on the nose the...

Victoria: Thanks for your question.  You are far enough out that you are unlikely to have any swelling left in the skin to explain this change.  One possibility is that if your nose size was significantly reduced (looks to be a pretty significant reduction) then there is less tension...

After Rhinoplasty patients are advised not to use facial cleansers directly on the nose for 1-2 weeks post op. This is also due to the cast that is on your nose. Tape is often worn for 2 weeks after that but you can wash your face gently at this point. I would be sure to ask your surgeon these...
