Assuming you are in good health and the mitral valve is not causing any functional problems, then you should be able to undergo the procedure without significant additional risk. You procedure should be done in an accredited surgical facility.
Thank you for your question. The surgeon will have to clear it with your cardiologist and they are best at determining your risk from the surgery. There are different amounts of mitral valve regurgitation so this has to be determined by your cardiologist who will make the most sound recommendation. I hope this helps!
All medical problems should be evaluated prior to surgery.Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of mommy makeovers each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
A mitral valve prolapse is very common and often does not cause a problem. You will need a full workup by your doctor and a cardiologist, but it is very likely that you can get a tummy tuck. Make sure to choose a board certified plastic surgeon!
Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a very common condition. Your plastic surgeon will have you evaluated prior to the procedure to determine what if any additional precautions will be necessary. However, it is not typically considered a contraindication for a tummy tuck.
Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is quite common. Assuming you are in good health and you have no clinical symptoms from MVP, you should be OK to proceed with your elective cosmetic surgery. Please visit with a board certified PS for a formal consultation and evaluation. Best wishes,Dr. BasuHouston, TX
Thank you for the question. In my opinion a patient who is having surgery should always undergo all the labs and other test neccesary to have a surgical procedure. Your Plastic Surgeon aside with your Anesthesiologist have to slowly and dedicately review your results to determine if it´s safe to keep going. Always, always follow pre op instructions to ensure your safety before, during and after a surgical procedure. This should be your number one concern.
Thank you for the question. Assuming you are in good health and the mitral valve prolapse is asymptomatic you should be able to undergo tummy tuck surgery without problems. Best to undergo a medical workup of her for your own peace of mind. Your plastic surgeon would also appreciate a note from your primary care physician or cardiologist. Best wishes.
Mitral valve prolapse is not uncommon. It is generally not symptomatic and not a contraindication to having a tummy tuck. You should have a medical clearance from your primary physician or cardiologist before proceeding with the surgical procedure.Keep in mind that following advice from asurgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to dowithout examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desiredoutcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of eachoperative procedure would not be in your best surgery. I would suggest that youfind a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery andone who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic PlasticSurgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discussyour concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
thanks for your question. Most mitral valve prolapses are asymptomatic and so it is fairly safe to undergo an elective surgical procedure. Make sure you get a medical clearance and have your labs checked such as a CBC and electrolytes before your surgery so your surgeon can review them before your surgery.
Thank you for your question. This is a prescription which your doctor will have to prescribe for you if they feel it is appropriate and you have no risk factors to consider. I hope this helps!
Very difficult to see or say anything definitive based on the photographs. Because you had extra work done around your belly button, and you are only 7 days out, it is most likely to be expected that you are sensitive in the area and even could have some extra swelling there....
You may want to ask your plastic surgeon. However, it's usually advised to remove all jewelry before any surgical procedure.
