I've struggled with a full lower area of my face my whole life. I've lost over 20 pounds and the weight I carry in my face will not go away. I've tried facial exercises, facial stretches, certain foods known to burn fat, diets, and cardio and more cardio. Now that I am at my goal weight and in the best shape I've ever been, it's time to get rid of this stubborn weight I carry in my face that makes me look a lot heavier than I actually am.

Answer: Facial concerns Hello Enz26-Its difficult to give you any advise without better and more photographs. From the one distant photo that you have included of your face, you appear to be young in age. Fullness in the cheeks can reflect youthfulness as we age, so be careful about how you proceed. Liposuction of the face/neck might be a first good option for you with or without reduction of your buccal fat pads. Please go consult with a board certified plastic surgeon about these options and others they may mention when they see you in person.Good luck,

Answer: Neck lift for stubborn fat deposits in that area In our practice, we do not recommend removal of any fat in the face. When you have reached your ideal body weight and have diet resistant fat in the neck, liposuction can remove the fatty deposits above the platysma muscle. Surgical removal of the fatty deposits underneath the muscle is required along with a platysma plasty, also known as a neck lift. No skin removal is required. For many examples, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Buccal Fat Pad Removal For a Refined Facial Aesthetic Dear enz26, First of all congratulations for loosing your weight and staying physically fit at the same time. Patients come in my office quite frequently with similar complaints and the patients are fit and in shape and can't get rid of the fullness in the lower cheek area. They say they have "chipmunk cheeks" and this is treated surgically with buccal fat pad removal. In some occasions this will also include some liposuction of the jaw and chin area however it is dependent on each patient. When removing buccal fat it is important that the surgeon is skilled and has a lot of experience in this area as the amount of fat you remove is crucial to the patients outcome. I have included a link below and video above to show you an example of this procedure. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

Answer: Procedure for problem area From your pictures it is difficult to advise on your best course of action. Consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon will give you options based on your age and facial structure to determine whether liposuction, buccal fat removal or another procedure would resolve the issue in the most effective and natural way. Best wishes.
