Hello! I am a 23 year old female who works a mostly standing seasonal job and I started noticing really visible veins on my thighs and the back of my knees where they even bulge out sometime and cause a burning sensation. I consulted my personal doctor and she told me to take some medication (detralex). The veins are making me lose my confidence as I am a person who loves wearing dresses but now I don't feel comfortable wearing them anymore...are there any effective solutions to get rid of them?
Answer: Sclerotherapy vs. Surgery for spider and varicose veins Laser therapy has evolved to address small and medium sized abnormal veins. In fact, endovenous laser therapy is useful for the management of varicose-vein associated venous insufficiency. Sclerotherapy using foam sclerosants are ideal for the treatment of minimally-refluxing varicosities and reticular veins. In our office, we combine these less-invasive modalities with microphlebectomy and vein surgery in order to minimize scarring and remove unsightly varicosities. Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Vein Treatment You are not alone! Vein disease effects nearly 1/3 of the population. There are several new, cutting-edge treatments out there to treat varicose veins. Step 1 is to find a qualified vein specialist to receive a thorough ultrasound scan and evaluation of your legs. This will verify that blood is flowing in both directions (aka venous reflux), deeming it a medical issue which in most cases is covered by your insurance provider. Ask your doctor about Varithena or Venaseal! Both are great new treatment options that are easier on the patient. Best of luck!

Answer: Consultation recommendation As technology advances, there are newer and easier ways to not only treat existent varicose veins, but also, treat underlying process of chronic venous insufficiency responsible for varicose veins as well. An initial consultation and ultrasound scan of the legs is recommended in your case. After examination, the best approach for vein treatment will be discussed. Without treatment of venous insufficiency, those with the disease may experience progressive symptoms that can ultimately debilitate and impact the quality of life. However, this outcome is preventable with proper vein treatment. Treatment for veins are done by minimal access methods and patients resume normal activities more quickly than in the past and the good part is that medical insurance plans cover venous procedures. All the best,

Answer: Varicose veins The pictures you have shown are a clear indication of venous disease. The veins are but a sign that you should seek care from a qualified venous specialist and likely have an ultrasound to determine the extent of the disease. Venous disease is a chronic progressive disease that will put you at risk for blood clots, leg infections and sores on the legs as you age. It also causes many daily symptoms such as heaviness, swelling, pain, fatigue, restlessness to name a few. Many people, including doctors, focus on what they see and they should be asking why are they there? If you address this properly, your legs will be healthier and more beautiful. Good luck!
