Instead of just filling the lines, consider treating the underlying issue: skin laxity. As skin loses collagen and elasticity with age, lines become deeper. That’s where skin-tightening treatments can make a big difference. In our practice we recommend Morpheus8 or Ultherapy. After the final results then filler can be place if needed but in much smaller amounts. Often, the most natural and effective results come from combining skin tightening with small, strategic use of filler.
Hello, I find that Juvederm effectively softens deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines. However, if one injects too much filler in an attempt to completely erase these furrows, the filler tends to spread out and make the surrounding areas look "puffy". In my practice, I prefer to avoid this appearance, and instead I advise my patients the furrows will not completely be eliminated. Although facial filler injections are relatively quick and low risk compared to surgery, it is still very important to seek an experienced healthcare professional to do your procedure. They should be able to tell you the longevity of the filler, risks, and how they would manage possible problems should they arise (infection, allergy, skin lumps, blockage of a blood vessel, etc). These problems are very uncommon but if they occur, need to be managed appropriately. I hope your procedure goes well.
Hello P,In patients who wish to look their best without surgical intervention like yourself, I recommend a combination treatment of Profound RF (microneedle radiofrequency), Sculptra (biostimulates volume, collagen), Fraxel repair laser (ablative CO2 laser), and then topical and injected PRP (platelet rich plasma). This is all performed at the same single treatment session. Juvederm injections can help to soften your marionette and nasolabial folds, but if used alone will make your lower face look heavy. The biggest bang for the buck for rejuvenation would be the addition of an upper blepharoplasty (eyelids) which can be done under local anesthesia in the office. Make sure to choose your treating physician very carefully. Good luck and be well.Michael Persky, MDEncino, CA
The following is an excerpt from my answer to a query I received on Realself literally immediately before yours."Many inexperienced, novice injectors typically rely on plain Juvederm or simple Restylane for all purposes. And, this is unfortunate, since each company makes robust fillers intended to be used for different problem areas of the face. For example, there are robust volumizing fillers for non-surgical cheek augmentation (which can help to secondarily improve the undereyes . If lift is required there are HA lifting fillers. If greater contour is required, say straightening and defining the jawline and jowls, there are HA contouring fillers. And there are even low viscosity, cohesive malleable HA fillers for use in areas such a as under the eyes for bags and crinkles." So, before even considering expensive, aggressive, invasive surgeries that risk permanent scars, etc., you might consider consulting with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatolgist filler expert. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid dermal filler, can be an effective, non-surgical option for softening the appearance of nasolabial folds (lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth) and marionette lines (lines running from the mouth corners down toward the chin). By restoring volume and smoothing the skin in these areas, Juvederm can create a more youthful, refreshed appearance without surgery. What to Expect:Immediate Results: Improvement is visible right after injection, with final results settling within 1–2 weeks.Longevity: Results typically last 9–18 months, depending on the specific Juvederm product used and individual factors.Procedure: In-office treatment with minimal downtime; some temporary swelling or bruising may occur.Limitations: While fillers can significantly soften these lines, they cannot replicate the lifting and tightening effects of a surgical facelift, especially in cases of significant skin laxity.Summary:Juvederm can effectively reduce nasolabial and marionette lines, offering a non-surgical solution with immediate results and minimal downtime, though outcomes are temporary and best suited for mild to moderate lines.
Even though fillers may create somewhat of an improvement in the depth of the nasolabial falls, it is not the ultimate solution since the results will be very minimal and most likely short acting. At your stage of the game, a face and the neck should be performed as long as they are affordable and done by an expert Plastic surgeon. I hope this helps and good luck from Leonard Grossman M. D.
