Thanks for the question, I have had some great success melting and softening the gland with the laser to reduce the chance of needing to add the scar around the areola which a lot of man do not want to have, the procedure is done as an outpatient procedure and can even be done with just some oral medication and numbing the area to help reduce costs
Thank you for your question. Certainly laser lipo or smart lipo can be done. It will be more effective if they have more fatty tissue than glandular tissue. This is an office procedure and pt can go home after the surgery. If they have mainly glandular tissue, they likely need excisional surgery.
If you have mainly a fatty chest, then almost any liposuction device or technique is adequate. If it is glandular, then likely a direct excision would be necessary.
Hello. Thanks for your inquiry. Yes laser liposuction such as Smartlipo can be used to treat male gynecomastia. It really depends upon your degree of gynecomastia. I have found success with patients who have significant fatty breast tissue respond well to be the Smartlipo treat. Otherwise I use an open surgical technique. Hope this helps you.Best of luck.Dr. Burnett
Although, one can use laser liposuction to treat gynecomastia, I have found that ultrasound liposuction (Vaser liposuction) is more powerful and more effective than laser lipo (Smartlipo), in removing male breast tissue. In either case, it may still be necessary to directly excise the central breast tissue, which can be very dense. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
