Is it normal to have burn marks so long after laser lipo?

I received lipo a few months ago. I sustained one pretty large burn, and then the smaller incisions throughout are still very much evident 3 months post lipo. I have gone for follow up regarding this and I am being told that they should fade away, but I don't really see much improvement and I'm becoming concerned. Add insult to injury I'm also not happy with how the lipo itself turned out. Is it normal to have marks from the incisions so many months out? Do they fade or am I scarred for life?

Thank you for your question.Incision scars and hyperpigmented scars are possibility after surgery. Everyone heals differently. It may take 6 weeks to 6 months. There are ways to lighten pigmented scars o or to make the scars look better. I would recommend consulting with a Board Certified Dermatologist for best treatment plan. I hope this helps!

I treat a lot of post-liposuction defects coming form all over the country. its not surprising to see that majority of the defects are after SmartLipo (80% of the cases). such defects are hard to treat. as they usually have some form of scarring underneath them. scars can only be made better but cannot be erased. you can wait and see for a few more months as suggested by your doctor. you might need a revision if your defects and scars are not better over time

Incision marks are permanent but usually do fade over time. This can take a year or longer for some people. Best of luck.
