Deciding on implant size. Is there a significant difference between 270 and 295 cc mod plus xtra by Mentor?

Thanks Modplus for your question. There is hardly any difference—roughly one to two teaspoons. The change won't be seen from the outside of the body. There would be no change in the bra size. The majority of patients are satisfied with the larger size. Your appearance will remain natural and will not be noticablly different between those two sizes that were mentioned.

Hello, thank your for your question. A difference of 25 cc wont be very apparent to anyone else but yourself. Typically women wish they went bigger with their implant size after the surgery and usually once the implant is placed in the tissue under the muscle it looks a bit smaller. So if you like the way the 270cc looks when doing implant sizers, then typically we go up to the next size so that it appears the same way once inside your chest. You should try on implant sizers underneath t shirts. ask yourself if you want more side boob or less and see what other women implant forums have been talking about. breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

There is not a significant difference between the two implants you are considering. Any difference would likely be subtly noticeable, if at all.

25cc is not even one ounce of fluid and the width is different by one millimeter. These differences are miniscule. As surgeons we need to be better about explaining this. Honestly, you need to trust your surgeon, they should guide you toward the appropriate size RANGE. Good luck, Jane

Most patients find it very difficult to decide about size of the implant. If you consider that 25ml., what is a difference between two implants is 10% of the implant volume, and, depending the size of your breast, very likely, 5% of the entire breast volume, that is practically invisible difference. You will be fine with any of the two. Toss the coin, in this case that is the best. Good luck.

Hi and thank you for your question. Even for very petite patients, a difference of 25cc is a very minimal difference. Likely not noticeable to most until differences are 50cc or greater. The projection and base width differences are minimal, as well. Hope this helps!

Great question. The 25 ml difference is essentially 5 teaspoons in volume. However, I would trust your board certified plastic surgeon for the final result.

The difference is very small, about one teaspoon. The bra size would not change. If you are concerned, go with the larger size.
