I’m looking to remove my double chin and neck rolls. I’m 26, overweight (30.7BMI) and neck fat runs in my family. I Which procedure would give be the best results? Im considering chin lipo and airsculpt. Is airsculpt worth the higher price point? Or is chin liposuction more effective? Please see the attached photos- thanks!

Answer: Chin and neck, Liposuction I almost 100% of people seeking chin and neck liposuction have a facial skeletal imbalance with a mandible that is small or lacking in forward projection. The primary problem is not an abnormal fat distribution, but rather a man, the ball that’s lacking in projections. This causes the underlying platysma muscle to drive the neck in an oblique fashion. Recognize that fat distribution is not what causes a double chin. Liposuction can given nice improvements, especially on individuals, who have a reasonably good size mandible, are young, and have sufficient amounts of fat to remove it to create a significant difference. The type of liposuction is fairly irrelevant. The only two variables that matter is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure in combination with the skill and experience of the provider. Air sculpt is a trademark term owned by Elite Body Sculpture. Air sculpt is a form power assisted Liposuction using laser assistance. The company has an overall good reputation and generally providers working for specialty clinic tend to have substantially more experience, doing the same procedure over and over. In the end results are still based on those two single variables which are patient candidacy and the scale of the surgeon. Understanding your own candidacy is an important step, and understanding what Liposuction can, or cannot accomplish.Ideal candidates are generally young people with good skin elasticity, who have sufficient amounts of fat to remove and a fairly developed mandible. I recommend all patients have multiple in person consultations to get an accurate assessment and figure the vetting process to find the best provider. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of the previous patient who had similar facial profiles to yourself. And experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before, and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like Liposuction. Recognized the treatments that do not treat the underlying primary problem are going to give you a partial improvement at best. Since the primary problem is always based on the facial, skeletal structure, this needs to be addressed to get an ideal outcome. Your pictures are a bit insufficient to make an accurate assessment. I recommend having in person consultations to get a more accurate assessment, and better understanding of various treatment options. I suggest call Patience consider having at least five inperson consultations to help find the best provider. There is a significant difference in outcome of Liposuction results, depending on who does the procedure. Liposuction has more variation in outcomes based on who does the surgery done and the other plastic surgery procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
