How long after Labiaplasty can you go swimming?

Thank you for your question. I would definitely follow your surgeons postoperative protocol. I tell my patients that they shared be able to shower within 48 hours of labiaplasty procedure. They can dab dry afterwards. I tell them to avoid taking a bath for two weeks or swimming for six.

Hi, this is a great question. I would recommend that you wait at least 6-8 weeks or until cleared by your surgeon. You will want to wait until the incisions on the outside are healed.

Thank you for your question. This time frame would depend on how progressed your healing is. You will need an evlauation to how well approximated your incision edges are, and if they look ready for water submersion,a nd activity. I hope this helps!

I tell my patients two weeks on the average, but it totally depends on how you are healing.  This is something only your surgeon can answer.

I would talk to your surgeon at your two week visit and ask about swimming.  It is possible that you will be healed enough to swim in the next week but everyone heals at a different rate. If the incisions are all lealed it should be fine. I tell my patients to be cautious in public pools and hot tubs for about a month, just to be safe. You should be able to attend the party and just keep your swimming to a minimum.

Two weeks after a labiaplasty surgery sounds too soon to go back into the water. Best to ask your surgeon.

This is a conversation that you should have with your doctor. So much of when you are cleared to get into a pool shared by other people, salt water or not, depends on how quickly you heal, as well as what type of surgical technique and closure your surgeon performs. In my practice, I would probably warn you to plan on not swimming for 3 weeks. I would also tell you that if everything was completely healed at your 2 week visit it might be possible to shorten that time frame.  The problem is if there is even a tiny pin hole sized opening you could end up with bacteria tracking up I side the incision while you are submerged. So talk to your doctor and get an estimate of time.  I hope this helps

Reduction labiaplasty is generally
somewhat slower to heal than cosmetic plastic surgery of the dry cutaneous
areas of the skin. In general, after two
to three weeks, primary healing of the labia mucosa has occurred and there
should be no reason for foregoing swimming in a clean, chlorinated and
saltwater pool. However, it is always
best to return to your operative physician and seek their advice, as
examination may reveal some delayed healing or wound dehiscence that may
postpone your pool party plans.
