I'm so unhappy at this right now, I was barely eating protein and mostly junk food vegetables and pasta and my hair has thinned out an receded. Is there any natural way to restore it to where it was before?

Answer: Hair loss in men. Lack of nutrition and lack of protein is extremely rare in North American men. It's possible but usually patients are ill. The most likely cause in North American men for reduction ion hair volume is androgenetic alopecia. See a hair specialist for guidance. You'll want to first confirm the diagnosis and determine if it's male balding or nutritional issues then discuss treatments.

Answer: Receding hair Dear Alexmcom, One would have to have very severe nutritional deficiency to affect the genetic course of male pattern hair loss. Although stress, nutritional irregularities and weight loss have been attributed to accelerating male pattern hair loss the evidence is marginal at best. A well balanced diet, a combination of low-level light therapy, topical 5-15% Minoxidil serum, plasma rich protein and topical nutrient serum will likely restore some of your density. I would seek out the advice of a medical hair specialist. One such excellent doctor is Dr. Jeff Donovan in Toronto and optimize our natural density. Your genetic tendency to male pattern hair loss may continue to progress and these non-surgical techniques can retard the process. Of course, the addition of Propecia or Finasteride will help with the progression of male pattern hair loss and even intrascalp progesterone injections. I hope this information is of some assistance and best of luck. To find out more, please visit the link below. R. Stephen Mulholland, M.D. Certified Plastic Surgeon Yorkville, Toronto
