I had 2 rhinoplasty surgeries back in 1992 & 1993. Ever since then i have built up terrible bloody crusts in both nostrils and have been suffering 20+years. 2 different ear, nose and throat specialists both said they could not help me. I went back to the nose surgeon in 1994 to show him the problem and he accused me of "doing too much cocaine" which is a completely false accusation. I have tried all sorts of recommended home treatment with no change. I even packed my nose nightly for a full year.
Answer: Bleeding and crusting Bleeding and crusting in your nose following surgery can be a sign of chronic inflammation in your nose. It could be from a septal deviation still present, a septal perforation, or from chronic inflammation with allergies. Sometimes the bone of your turbinate might be exposed. I would have an ENT or a facial plastic surgeon take a look. In the mean time, regular nasal saline and Vaseline inside your nose will be helpful. Good luck.

Answer: Crusting and Bleeding after rhinoplasty You are very far out from your rhinoplasties and this sounds like it is really affecting you. This sounds like you need to seek out an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist to examine your nose internally to figure out exactly what is causing these problems. It may be as simple as excessive dryness that can cause frequent crusting and bleeding and is treated with saline nasal spray/gel/etc.

Answer: Nasal crust and bleeding Dear GGM1968, Thank you for submitting your clinical concerns and problems. The two previous rhinoplasties undoubtedly have some anatomic and functional correlation to your current symptomatology. Assuming that you are not performing any sort of endonasal abusive behaviour, such as cocaine or repeated use of nasal sprays, then my advice would be to seek the opinion of a well-trained ear/nose/throat otolaryngologist with the experience in complex nasal airway concerns. In Toronto, one such specialist would be Dr. Ian Witterick at Mount Sinai Hospital, who is excellent, well-trained and may be able to provide the consultative assistance that you seek. For more information, please review the link below and best of luck. Sincerely, R. Stephen Mulholland, M.D. Certified Plastic Surgeon Yorkville, Toronto
