Those of us who have craniofacial training generally prefer moving the chin forward which is more versatile and accomplishes more. That is not to say that we do ever use implants or there is something wrong with the implants. However, whether it is an implant or osteotomy, it will not replace the mandibular angle implant. For a mild form of jaw angle deficiency fat injection also may suffice. The cost will depend on what needs to be done and I am sorry to say that I do not know the details since I do not discuss the financial matters with the patients and I have a staff member who does that.
Cost factors vary significantly for a number of good reasons: Prices vary greatly because the surgery itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery performed that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you trust, then compare prices between them. See the below link on suggestions on how to find the most qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. General Factors that influence the price of plastic surgery include: 1. Location - Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay, an independent out- patient facility or a doctor’s office? Geographical location also has a significant influence. RealSelf has average charges for most areas of the USA. 2. Type of Anesthesia - local, IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, or an RN be used? 3. Experience and training of your surgeon. The best and longest trained is most often a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery 4. Length and Complexity of Surgery - how difficult will your surgery be and how long it will take, etc. Will other complementary procedures also be also performed during the same surgery?
Being an option, chin implants and fillers have serious disadvantages, specially inthe mid and long term, patients are rarely happy with them after 5-6years, all are out by then or later.Consider the chin advancement by means of sliding genioplasty, the advantages are:-lifetime procedure, no more revision or renewal procedures-more natural than implants-no visibility of implant edges during gestures-improvesthe double chin effect at the sub-mental muscles (floor of mouth)hammock caused by lack of tension there; also improves the shape andtension of perioral muscles; implants do no offer this feature-horse-shoe enhancement, covering the chin and also the jaw sides of it-no future displacements or neuritis of mental nerves-practically zero infections and 100% healing of bones-noneed for complex plates and screws that may need future removal; juststeel wires synthesis may suffice, they stay buried into bone callusThe cons are:-expensive, but cheap if you consider the lifetime pros-technicallydemanding, few surgeons are experienced or comfortable (though Ipersonally perform 100% of the chin augmentations by this osseousmethod, always after offering the patients both options)-scary for the patient (though not so much if you explain well the stuff around it)You'll find in this website dozens of negative experiences with chin implants in the short and mid term, do read my profile's Q&A and you'll find them too. I am doing sliding genioplaties for 15 years with the highest success and no one patient regreted, totall the opposite, I did many chin implant removals and one staged sliding genioplasties to replace them.
When it comes to creating an overall more angular jawline, total jawline enhancement needs to be done including the chin and both jaw angles. Whether this is best done with a three implant approach (chin and two jaw angles) or a single custom made wrap around jawline implant depends on an analysis of your face with computer imaging to determine your jawline shape goals.
A full set of photographs are required to make any determination about being a candidate for a chin implant and jawline implants. The size and shape of the implant does determine the time of examination and consultation. For many examples and our current price list, please see link and video below
Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations using a chin implant to correct a weak chin and create harmony and balance to the lower face. You cal also augment the mandibular angle with a dermal filler (I prefer Restylane Lyft or Radiesse) to add angularity and flare to the jaw line. IMHO, this is far less invasive and problematic than using jaw implants or a chin/jawline all in one implant. Hope this helps.
Yes, generally you have to consider the entire jawline extending from the ear/angle of the lower jaw; to the chin. This is especially true if you wish a more angular look. The genioplasty is combined with jawline implants and blends them. The lower jaw look must balance the mid face and cheekbones and so as to avoid excess prominence in one area.
If the tape is still on, you cannot draw hard conclusions of the cosmetic results. Even after the tape and sutures are removed, there will be swelling which takes weeks to subside. If the chin implant is not right, it can be removed. And jaw surgery, tho more involved could be...
Hi iwotm8, From your 3 options, the least invasive method will be the use of chin implant (using the largest implant size appropriate) provided that your occlusion is normal. Sliding geniopplasty alone may not give a satisfactory result. If you have malocclusion, however, you will need...
To make that cervicomental angle change in a young person with little subcutaneous neck fat, you need a submentoplasty procedure. This is where any subplatysmal fat is removed and the neck muscle are tightened at the cervicomental transition.
