Hi, I am looking to balance my profile. I am not sure if I should consider chin implant or fillers since my anterior chin height is sufficient. Thoughts?
Answer: Chin augmentation options You do appear to be a good candidate for chin augmentation. A chin implant is the much less invasive option of the two you listed. This surgery can be performed using local anesthesia and an incision inside the mouth in most cases, to eliminate visible scarring afterward. Sliding genioplasty would be preferred if your teeth are also severely out of alignment. If that is not the case, it is likely you will get a satisfying result from a chin implant alone. I encourage you to schedule an in-person assessment with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon for further evaluation and treatment recommendations.

Answer: Should I consider a chin implant or genioplasty? I am looking to balance my profile. (photo) Either one of the surgeries (chin implant, genioplasty) carries risks. The least aggressive surgery of the two is the chin implant. Genioplasty is a very aggressive surgery and will have more significant risks compared to a chin implant. With any surgery, risk of infection exists, but is quite low with the implant. The recovery after an implant is also less painful with less swelling. A chin implant will only improve your cosmetic appearance. If you think you have a weak chin that detracts from your appearance, make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in office exam to discuss your options.

Answer: Chin augmentation Dear lemoncakes6, It is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin augmentation. If you are considering a treatment, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Should consider a chin implant or genioplasty? A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon in a hospital setting under general anesthesia with an overnight stay at the hospital since it is quite invasive. It is usually performed when the patient's teeth are significantly out of alignment. Placement of a chin implant can be performed under local anesthesia which takes approximately 30 minutes and is much less invasive.
