I'm currently considering having liposuction on flanks/love handles area. After a few consults most doctors seem to suggest I'll need 700-800cc aspirated fat (mixed with fluid) liposuctioned. 1. How much is that amount in pounds? Is it 1.5-2 pounds? Is it too much? 2. I'm hoping not to see more than a 1-1.5 inch drop in waist size as I'm a slim guy with stubborn fat. Would 700-800cc reduce waist size by 1 inch, or would it lead to greater (or smaller) loss? Again I don't want major changes.
Answer: 700-800 cc of fat is not very much 700-800cc of liposuction aspirate is not very muck. Keep in mind that only about half of that will be fat, so you are really only talking about a pound. This may or may not be the right amount for you because we have not examined you are seen any photos.

Answer: Liposuction of the flanks Without seeing any pictures, or knowing your height/weight it is difficult really say. However, I usually encourage my patients to not get to caught up on a specific number in regards to the expected volume to be removed. I think it is very important to convey your concerns and expections to your surgeon though, so that you both are on the same page. If you don't want major changes, make sure you have made that clear to your surgeon. The waist size reduction can vary depending on many factors, such as what level you wear your pants on your waist compared to the location of the planned liposuction. The volume removed in comparision to the overall size of the patient as well in relation to the surrounding areas will also make a difference in the overall appearance. Take care.

Answer: Expectations from liposuction Quoting a patient the amount of aspirate mixed with fat means virtually nothing. What matters is the total amount of fat. 700 to 800cc on a mid-section is not a lot especially if this is not pure fat. Any plastic surgeon well versed in liposuction should be able to help you obtain your goal as you wish for a modest result. Most of my male patients want to have an 8-pack. Choose a board certified plastic surgeon that you feel comfortable with and that can show you some patients similar to your build. It's more about the experience of the surgeon than the actual cc's of fat removed. I usually see those types of quotes from non-plastic surgeons that should stick with the specialty they chose in med school. Good luck to you my friend.

Answer: Flanks and fat removal 1 KG is 2.2 lbs. Not knowing what your flanks look like means that I really can't tell you what can be removed and what your waist/flanks will look like.

Answer: Questions on liposuction of the waist and flanks It is important to remember that liposuction can only remove the fat that is located between the skin and underlying muscle (subcutaneous fat). The liposuction technique can be performed with ultrasonic, laser or mechanical energy to improve the efficiency of fat removal. Fluid is added before suction to reduce bruising and to cool the tissues. The waistline shape and size are also affected by the intra abdominal fat located inside the abdominal cavity but this can not be treated by liposuction and only responds to general weight loss.It is difficult to precisely predict the waist size reduction resulting from liposuction because many other factors are involved. It is fair to expect a waist line reduction of at least 1 or 2 inches with the proper liposuction technique and the removal of 700-800cc of aspirate.
