Cocaine bump one month before rhinoplasty, can I still get surgery?

A small amount of nasal cocaine may not affect your upcoming surgery, but if there is more to the story, it may. My other concern is after surgery. If you have a few too many drinks and make another bad choice AFTER your surgery, you could end up with a septal perforation or worse. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

 We appreciate your honesty in a forum like this. However, the chemical signals that occur during cocaine use are so powerful, that they are often difficult to control.  We require our patients to be sober from cocaine use for many years before rhinoplasty  or functional nasal surgery, as the consequences of mixing cocaine use with rhinoplasty surgery can be permanent disfigurement.    I would strongly suggest that you postpone your surgery and discuss in detail with your surgeon.
