Some vitamins, like Vitamin E, may have blood thinning effects, but Vitamin D is not one of them. If you are taking other vitamins and supplements, please inform your surgeon. Thank you. Dr Joseph
In my opinion normal dosing of Vitamin D is not a problem for my patients, but you should check with your own surgeon to be sure. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.
Hello and thank you for your question. It is best to consult your surgeon beforetaking any unprescribed medications prior to planned surgery. It would be importantto know your full history.
Thank you for your question. Vitamin D should not pose any adverse effects for your upcoming surgery but I would still recommend that you discuss this with your board certified plastic surgeon. I always think that it is important that patients discuss their medical history and any current medications with their surgeons directly since each surgeon will have his/her own pre-operative protocols and recommendations. I advise my patients to avoid the use of Vitamin A, E, fish oil, omega's, multivitamins and blood thinners for at least two weeks before their surgery. I hope that this answer helps and I wish you all of the best.
