Dear Falak1, In general, immediately following hair transplantation, the recipient site, or the place where the hair transplant follicular units are placed should be cleansed on a daily basis with gentle shampoo and care taken not to traumatize the hair grafts from achieving their blood supply. The use of camouflage products to hide the transplant area should be used with great caution in the first two weeks and I generally recommend patients wait till the scabs have come off and the follicular unit hair grafts have received a blood supply and some stable collagen production to close the slits in which they were placed. At that time, specifically two weeks, hair camouflage techniques such as fibres can be deployed. The posterior aspect of the donor site in the occiput, hair camouflage techniques can be used within one week to minimize the areas where the hair was shaved in order to harvest the follicular units at the FUE donor sites. I have been performing exclusively follicular unit extraction and transplantation using NeoGraft® and ARTAS® for the past five to seven years. I have had great success with the conservative approach to a postoperative management of the recipient site, ensuring stable survival of the grafts prior to using camouflage techniques. It does mean that most patients need to take seven to ten days off work prior to returning. I hope this information has been of some assistance and best of luck. Sincerely, R.
