Can titanium screws for facial reconstruction cause cancer/long term effects (sight loss)?

I want to do cheekbone reduction, however you need titanium screws to fix the cheekbones. Do they have any long term effects?

Titanium is a relatively inert, or "inactive," metal, which is why it is the chosen material - along with its strength and ability to not set off metal detectors - for bony reconstruction. No one can say that there are no long-term effects whatsoever, and the use of plates and screws occur in settings where other elements are at play, but in general the presence of titanium plates and screws has not been associated with serious long-term effects. If they were known to do this, we would remove them, which is not common routine practice.
