Why is there no V-line surgeries performed in the USA as it is in South Korea?

The reason this traditional approach to V line surgery is not commonly done in the US is because of the ethnic differences in the population. Traditional v line surgery, as practiced in the East, amputates off the jaw angle bone all the way up the chin. This an aggressive combined vertical and horizontal bone removal which is indicated in someone who has a really wide and square jawline as many Asians do. But when performed in someone has does not have this type of jawline, as much of the US population does not, the consequences are an overly shortened face and soft tissue sag. I see many US patients who have gone overseas for V line surgery who now want to partially or completely reverse their result. Traditional V line surgery is a very good surgery IF one has the right jawline shape for it. As many Americans do not the need to widely practice this specific method of V line surgery in the US is low. The American version of V line surgery leaves the vertical length of the jaw angle intact to main its shape but narrows its width.

It is difficult to research procedures for the patient in many cases. V-line surgery IS well practiced in North America by specific surgeons with experience in bone surgery vis a vis soft tissue only. There are many variations of the procedure dependent upon your specific jaw shape/form and the relative balance with your middle face. There are also differing views of the extent required by the patient in a male dominant society versus North America.
