Hello. I had my hair transplant 27 days ago in Turkey. 4000 grafts. My donor area looks as in the photo. The skin there continues to be red. Is it normal? Also I wonder if hair will grow again so that my donor area gets a more natural look.

Answer: Hair growth and redness Thank you for your question. With FUE hair transplant the area of the donor site is much larger as the grafts are not taken as a single strip. This area of redness will therefore will be greater and generally for most surgery, the area of operation and scarring can be red for atleast 3 months. With hair transplant, the scalp is injected with solution that makes it swell. This will take time to settle and the body will eventually absorb it. Consequently, the redness takes a bit longer to settle down. If it is quite obvious, then you can consider using a concealer that is water based - this can be to specific skin colour types and can help to soften the red appearance. With FUE, when the hair is taken, this donor area will not regrow hair as the follicle and root has been removed. With large volume FUE this can lead to a thinning appearance to the back of the head. I hope this is helpful for you BW Rohit Seth Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and hair transplant surgery Bella Vou Cosmetic Clinic

Answer: Redness in the donor area There are many factors that affect the redness in the donor area (e.g. amount of hair removed, punch sizes, skin type, etc.). The redness improves over time sometimes taking 6 months or more to resolve if a large case size was perform. The donor area regains its "normal" appearance in as much time depending on how much hair was harvested. Only the hair that wasn't harvested will grow back. The hair that was removed (harvested) won't grow back in the donor area.
