Tips on how to keep fat from reabsorbing after fat grafting to breast?

Any tips, or tricks to try to avoid loss of volume with fat grafting to breast. I used to have saline implants and got them replaced with fat transfer. Is it true that because my breast is already stretched that my fat graft will be more successful?

Hello,Having more space with a good blood supply does help with fat retention since fat transfer sucesss depends entirely on blood supply. Early on in the healing process staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet and pressure relief are the most important things you can do to try to retain the most transferred fat.Best of Luck with you healing!Dr. Rednam

Thank you for your question. It is true that grafted fat has a higher take rate in a breast that has been expanded. In fact, often times surgeons will have a patient wear a BRAVA expander prior to fat grafting the breast. Once the procedure is done, there isn't much you can do to promote the fat to stay. Post operatively make sure that you aren't using ice for swelling. Good luck!
