Vaser Lipo with fat transfer to breasts, how long is the minimum down time and can this be done awake?

While possible to perform under local only, I would not recommend it. If you become uncomfortable, the procedure has to be stopped and you must return later with an anesthesiologist present. (They cannot be called into a surgery).Also, this can jeopardize fat transfer results. I routinely perform fat transfer to the breasts with Vaser of multiple areas under IV sedation/anesthesia for patient comfort and safety as IV fluids are also given for proper hydration.An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

Thank you for your question. In my experience, to adequately place local anesthesia over three areas may go over the maximum amount of lidocaine that one can give safely. Once you add in having to numb the entire upper pole of both breasts, I think it would be difficult. Having said that, over the last year, we have had very good success using nitrous oxide in addition to local anesthesia to make moderately sized liposuction cases more comfortable with only a local anesthetic. I would recommend that you see a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in that grafting we can assess just how much local would be necessary to get the job done. Hope that's helpful.
